wonderful story with a great lesson. borrowed from simple truths

Charles Plumb was a U.S. Navy jet pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands. He was captured and spent six years in a communist Vietnamese prison. He survived the ordeal and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience!

One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man at another table came up and said, "You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in

Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down!

"How in the world did you know that?" asked Plumb.

"I packed your parachute," the man replied. Plumb gasped in surprise and gratitude. The man pumped his hand and said, "I guess it worked!" Plumb assured him, "It sure did. If your chute hadn't worked, I wouldn't be here today."

Plumb couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. Plumb says, "I kept wondering what he had looked like in a Navy uniform: a white hat; a bib in the back; and bell-bottom trousers. I wonder how many times I might have seen him and not even said, 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything because you see, I was a fighter pilot and he was just a sailor." Plumb thought of the many hours the sailor had spent at a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship, carefully weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in his hands each time the fate of someone he didn't know.

Now, Plumb asks his audience, "Who's packing your parachute?" Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day. He also points out that he needed many kinds of parachutes when his plan was shot down over enemy territory - he needed his physical parachute, his mental parachute, his emotional parachute, and his spiritual parachute. He called on all these supports before reaching safety.

Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important. We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason. As you go through this week, this month, this year, don't forget to recognize the people who pack your parachutes.

Another great lesson I need to learn

We all see the world through our own interpretation of events based around our own beliefs and judgments. Your world revolves around you, it doesn’t revolve around anybody else. We tend to care too much about others opinions. This is a big mistake as it takes away from our own personal power. No matter what anybody says about you it does not hold any significance to who you really are unless you identify or agree with them. Stop identifying with others opinions and become aware of how you see yourself. Nobody knows you better than you know yourself. Stop caring how you think others see you and start caring about how you see yourself. Never settle for second best, never accept another person’s reality as your own, always believe that you can achieve anything you put your mind to, and most importantly, never, ever, ever let another person’s opinion of you affect the opinion you hold true about yourself ~ T2

trying to calm my mind

I have tried to find ways in which I would be able to overcome my jealousy, about Jim seeing Glennis and never telling me until after he has done this. He claims it is innocent as she needs some one to talk to and he is helping her with his sage advice. My anger comes from the fact that when he see's her it was 11:30 at night, in the afternoon, and a private phone call from his truck  this afternoon. My question is if it is so innocent why all the secretiveness, I have asked him to invite her down here where he can speak to her in our living room, I am more than willing to go into the bedroom to give her privacy. But no. What I want is not important in his eyes.
Now how do I deal with this I have heard and read several thoughts on the idea, most of them tell me to ignore his obsession and get over my jealousy, as it is causing  me to get upset over some thing that is not mine to deal with.
Well more home work for me , will get back on this if I find solution, My first thought is give him his walking papers

I will need to read this one a lot

Next time somebody makes you angry, sad or just pisses you off in some way. Stop, and ask yourself why you are feeling that way. How has this person got the power to make you feel that way? It’s simple, you have given them that power. You shouldn’t be angry at them, you shouldn’t get pissed off with how they are acting, you shouldn’t take their emotional baggage and make it your own, what you should be doing is taking a good hard look at yourself and asking why “you” are acting that way, why “you” are pissed off or angry. This doesn’t mean you idly stand by and let them get away with any wrong doing, it just means that if you get emotionally charged by their bad behavior then you will not see things as clearly as you would if you didn’t let your emotional reaction cloud your judgment. People are asses at the best of times, but it’s not your job to identify with their bad behavior. When you get angry with another person for what they say to you for example, this anger you feel will tell you more about yourself than the person you are angry with. Never let another person’s negative behavior become your own, let them be an ass, and be aware of your own reactions. Take responsibility for your own reactions and not another person’s actions ~ T2T

‎10 insightful quotes on wisdom…

(1) What you are aware of you are in control of; what you are not aware of is in control of you ~ Anthony De Mello.

(2) If you believe the doctors, nothing is wholesome; if you believe the theologians, nothing is innocent; if you believe the military, nothing is safe ~ Lord Salisbury.

(3) The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance – it is the illusion of knowledge ~ Daniel J. Boorstin

(4) Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that ~ Martin Luther King, Jr

(5) Everything is based on mind, is led by mind, is fashioned by mind. If you speak and act with a polluted mind, suffering will follow you, as the wheels of the oxcart follow the footsteps of the ox. Everything is based on mind, is led by mind, is fashioned by mind. If you speak and act with a pure mind, happiness will follow you, as a shadow clings to a form ~ Buddha.

(6) We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do, by finding out what will not do; and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery. ~ Samuel Smiles.

(7) Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it ~ Andre Gide.

(8) It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense ~ Robert G. Ingersoll.

(9) A writer arrived at the monastery to write a book about the Master.
“People say you are a genius. Are you?” he asked.
“You might say so.” said the Master, none too modestly.
“And what makes one a genius?” “The ability to recognize.” “Recognize what?”
“The butterfly in a caterpillar: the eagle in an egg; the saint in a selfish human being.” ~ Anthony De Mell

great explanation why my chaotic mind needs constant housekeeping

The Law of Connection....

This law states that we live in two worlds simultaneously. We live in our inner world and our outer world. The problem for most of us is that we allow the outer world to control our lives and we are constantly reacting to what we perceive every day. If you understand this law then you will realize that our reality is largely determined by how we cultivate and control our inner world. Inner (cause) Outer (effect)

Because these two worlds are connected, it stands to reason that each one has an effect on the other. If you have never worked on yourself or if you have never taken the time to observe how you act and react to outside stimuli, then you will be largely affected by the outside world. It is widely known that our reality is created in the mind, so it is imperative that we stop reacting to what happens outside of ourselves and start to grasp the whole concept of influence created by both.

Two people can be looking at the exact same thing in the outer world and yet have a different reaction. This is all the proof you should need to help you understand that it is your inner world that creates how you see things and not the other way round. Take some time to contemplate this law and ask yourself which world has the greater influence on your reality ~ T2T
